Talkabout Teacher Workshop

The Teacher Workshop is a fabulous annual event where the teachers at our partner schools are invited to attend our Wembley site to meet our Talkabout team and to learn more about how to support students in their classes who have language difficulties.

We had an amazing turn out for the workshop this year with around 70 teachers attending from schools all over Perth. Following a lovely afternoon tea and a warm welcome from our Principal, Janene Hall, the visiting teachers took part in a dynamic workshop facilitated by Psychologists, Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists from our Talkabout team.

Teachers learned about some of the difficulties our Talkabout students face when they have expressive or receptive language difficulties and learned some great strategies they can use to support students in their own classrooms.

They also heard a parent’s perspective about the journey of having a child with language difficulties and the huge impact the Talkabout program had on their children.

Teachers received helpful digital resources to help support their students at school and enjoyed networking with other teachers and our marvelous Talkabout team.

Finally, teachers got a tour of Talkabout and had time to connect with our Talkabout teachers and to see the classrooms and the wonderful resources we use to run our Talkabout programs.

This was a wonderful day of building strong connections and a great partnership between home, school and Talkabout. It also provided support for the teachers supporting our Talkabout students.
